After apologizing, Johanis Tanak was cheered by KPK employees

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Johanis Tanak finally apologized to the ranks of the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK in an important audience at the KPK’s Red and White Building, Jakarta on Monday (31/7) around at 10.30 WIB.

The hearing was related to the polemic on the KPK’s hand-catching operation (OTT) at Basarnas which led to the determination of suspects, against the Head of Basarnas Air Marshal TNI Henri Alfandi and Koorsmin Kabasarnas Lt. Col. Adm Afri Budi Cahyanto.

During the hearing, Johanis Tanak apologized to the staff at the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution. However, when Johanis apologized, the employees cheered him on.

“Because of the atmosphere at that time, we felt intimidated, we decided that we needed to apologize. The employees continued to cheer,” said an internal source, quoting Johanis Tanak’s apology.

The apology was made after Johanis Tanak had blamed the enforcement team at Basarnas OTT. Johanis blamed his subordinates after receiving the arrival of the Commander of the Military Police Center (Danpuspom) Junior Marshal (Marsda) Agung Handoko at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Friday (28/7).

In fact, in the aftermath of Johanis Tanak’s statement blaming his subordinates, the Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, who also serves as Director of Investigation at the KPK, Brigadier General Pol Asep Guntur Rahayu, plans to submit a letter of resignation.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission named the Head of Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency, Marshal Henri Alfiandi, as a suspect. Henri holds the status of a suspect after the KPK held OTT in Jakarta and Bekasi, on Tuesday (25/7).
