Dresden. Only recently was there really a lot going on, now everything is tight. All doors are closed, the shutters locked. Nobody can be seen this Thursday around the restaurant of the Naußlitz garden division “Happy Hour”, where a party with around 60 visitors took place on Sunday night.
Not even tenant Daniel Geier. He wasn’t one of the celebrants. The police did not initiate any administrative offense proceedings against him. He did not know about the celebration, he said on Sunday. That evening he worked for the railway’s winter service until 11.30 p.m. Geier has not responded to SZ inquiries since Sunday’s statement.

At that time he reported that he had gone to the pub after his work. “Policemen were already coming towards me and I noticed that something was wrong here.” When he came to the pub with the police, it was clear to him who had organized the party. “There were friends and acquaintances of mine who help me with the renovation. Because I will not be able to open again until June 30, I wanted to redesign the premises,” said Geier.
Keys stored hidden for friends
This is not possible without the help of friends, because he currently has little income, as his event company GG is also not running due to the corona restrictions. The key to the house was hidden outside, which “friends and acquaintances” would have known. That way they could get into the house.
Geier must now expect that he will get into trouble from the management board of the garden division. At the entrance to the division on Saalhausener Strasse, a tin mailbox will point to him. “To the vulture” is written on it. This is the new name of the club’s club since the 19-year-old reopened it in early November 2020.
At that time, this was also celebrated by the Dresden Garden Friends Association, the umbrella organization of allotment gardeners. “After a long search, the garden restaurant finally has a new operator,” the association reported on its website in mid-October. Now the club has little reason to be happy.
After the illegal party, the public order office deals with the division and the guests of the evening. You will face penalties. Meanwhile, the association’s board and the city association are considering what consequences the illegal celebration should have for the young tenant.
Mistake from the divisional board?
Wolfgang Koch is not just someone in the “happy hour” division. Together with his wife, he ran the club himself for twelve years, until 2007. He has already made a decision. “He would have to be punished twice,” says the 71-year-old, who has had a garden here with his wife Dagmar for 40 years. “Once for the fact that he left a key to the clubhouse in a hiding place, and the second time because insiders knew about it.”
He himself would not even have given the key to his son during his absence. Only vacation replacements would have had access to the bar with its hall for 70 visitors. Koch believes that the club’s board also made a mistake when he gave the young man from Dresden responsibility for the restaurant.
Koch does not trust the 19-year-old to do the business. “Sports and garden bars have their own laws,” says the 71-year-old. He has not yet met Daniel Geier. The 19-year-old describes himself as an event manager on his website. His companies: An event agency and the club restaurant – in which he now has to mainly manage problems.
