After a year, foreign trade went into deficit

The decline was due to exports, which grew significantly slower than imports. The year-on-year decline in the car trade surplus also had a negative effect on the result.

“Foreign trade in goods for June ended in the red. We are registering a negative monthly trade balance for the first time this year, which interrupted the record sequence of 12 consecutive surplus balances, ”said Stanislav Konvička, Head of the CZSO Trade Balance Department, about the June foreign trade result.

The trade surplus in motor vehicles fell by CZK 10.1 billion year-on-year. At the same time, the trade deficit in oil and natural gas deepened by CZK 8.1 billion, the deficit was also higher by CZK 6.9 billion in trade in basic metals and by CZK 3.6 billion in chemicals.
