After a two-year Corona break: Thousands of visitors to the Steinheim Maimarkt

Most traders from abroad, who were able to open their stands again on Saturday after a two-year break due to the pandemic, were very or mostly satisfied with the market development. Compared to previous years, there were only half as many stalls this time. This was probably also due to the stand fees of initially eleven euros per meter. After corresponding protests, the municipal council had withdrawn this and increased the fees from three to just five euros.

The offer at the slightly more than 60 stands was colorful and varied. A number of clubs and organizations also presented themselves and the Steinheim music association had invited to the spring festival in front of the town hall with lively music from the active band and the “Kunterbunt Band”. The benches were densely occupied, and the queues for drinks and food were correspondingly long.

Normandy products

The stand of the Steinheim-Colombelles partnership committee was crowded, but surprisingly the products from Normandy were not sold out this year. Bumper cars, children’s carousels and rockets never stood still.

Due to the summer temperatures, thousands of visitors came this time and strolled down the main street. Traffic on the detour routes will remain largely fluid. The stand of the fire brigade was also crowded around, providing information about their work and inviting the children to the “Brandhäusle” to spray guns.
