Prague – The players of Slavia Prague beat Teplice 2:1 at home after a turnaround in the fifth round of the first league. Abdallah Gning gave North Bohemia the lead in the 57th minute, but between the 81st and 86th minutes, Oscar Dorley and substitute Christos Zafeiris turned the tables. Although the Red and Whites conceded for the first time in the league year, they won in the fourth round in a row and maintained their unbeaten streak in the season. Defending champions Sparta remain two points behind league leaders.

In the top competition, Slavia scored points against Teplice for the umpteenth time in a row and got into a winning mood for Tuesday’s opening match of the 4th preliminary round of the Champions League at Lille. The North Bohemians lost for the fourth time out of the five rounds so far, and with three points they remain at the bottom of the incomplete table.

“We are happy for the points and for the fact that we were able to turn around the match, which was developing unfavorably for us. We were helped by some substitute players,” declared Slavist coach Jindřich Trpišovský at the press conference.

The coach of Prague made seven changes to the starting line-up compared to Tuesday’s match in Belgium against Saint-Gilloise, in which his team confirmed their progress to the 4th preliminary round of the Champions League after a 1-0 victory. After five matches, the recovered midfielder Ševčík jumped into the game, Chytil also got a chance at the tip of the attack after health problems.

In an offensive position, the North Bohemians bet on a bold 3-4-3 formation in Eden and surprisingly had the first two better chances. In the third minute, after a short free kick and a cross, a returner from Cykalo laid down the ball after a disciplinary penalty, and the home goalkeeper Kinski was saved from the opening conceded goal in the league season by the outside part of the bar.

Then Radosta, who was under pressure, only hit the side net. On the opposite side, Jureček, the top scorer of the last two league years, tried to lob the German goalkeeper, but shot over. In the 18th minute, Chytil turned around on the edge of the box, but narrowly missed the far post on the ground.

A moment later, Jurečka headed wide in a good position. At the beginning of the 33rd minute, the Slavist captain Bořil Harušťák kicked in the penalty area, but the referee Pechanec did not whistle the penalty and the video referee did not intervene either. At the end of the opening act, she did not fit between the bars of Juráskov’s blow at the end of the opening act.

At the beginning of the second half, Prague “squeezed” the opponent in front of the goal for a while. In the 56th minute, Jureček charged Jurášek, but he fired a technical shot just over the bar. A minute later, the North Bohemians shocked a packed Eden.

Bílek found the advancing Svatek in the box with a clever long-range cross from the right, whose header Kinský cleared, but he could no longer reach Gning’s stop. The Senegalese forward scored in the second match in a row, last time he secured Teplice’s 2:1 triumph over Liberec with the winning goal. Slavia was the last of all teams to concede for the first time in the league season.

Prague coach Trpišovský immediately made four substitutions, and one of the new players on the field, Vorlický, was able to equalize in the 67th minute. However, the joy of the first goal in the Czech league was taken away by the goalkeeper Němeček, who destroyed the ground attempt to the post.

In the 79th minute, another substitute Zafeiris hit the crossbar with a free kick. The celebrants started to be visibly nervous, but in the 81st minute Cykalo helped them with a huge mistake. The Ukrainian stopper was the last player to let Oscar turn the ball over, who got to the break and equalized thanks to Krichfaluši’s run. The Liberian international scored in the league for the first time since May.

Prebsl then only aimed the free kick into the side net, but in the 86th minute the favorite turned the tide. Bořil moved to Zafeiris in front of the goal, who went around his opponent and gave Němeček a chance with a shot to the far post.

At that moment, the guests played for several tens of seconds without Emmer, who remained lying in the attacking half after being slightly hit in the face by Ogbu in a hand-to-hand fight. However, the referee Pechanec let the game continue, recognized the goal and Teplice coach Frťala received a yellow card for protesting.

“I saw Honza Bořil and quickly shouted to him to find me. I knew that someone was coming against me, so I stuck it out a bit. He knew that I had to try to finish as quickly as possible and hit the goal. (Assistant coach) Zdeněk Houštecký that’s what he says all the time. I’m happy that we have three points and I could help the team,” Zafeiris, who scored for the first time in the season, told the club’s television.

“They tell us how we should behave, how the referees should behave, when there is a threat to health or head. He let it play out. We were not ready for it and then they failed to stop the game,” said North Bohemian coach Zdenko Frťala.

Slavia won at home in the league with Teplice for the ninth time in a row. The people of Prague confirmed that they are doing well in Eden, they lost only one of the last 39 matches in the top competition at their stadium. The North Bohemians suffered a defeat away from home in the league for the fourth time in a row.

“Since the mistake we made before the equaliser, it has already come upon us. Then I will not comment on it at all. I am sorry for the players that for the amount of energy and strength they put into it, we will not take at least one point.” added Frťala.

Coaches’ votes after the game:

Jindřich Trpišovský (Slavia): “In the beginning, we didn’t convert some opportunities, especially Venc Jureček, who was alone in front of the goalkeeper. Teplice defended very well, had good access to us, made the game difficult for us. Especially in the first half, we lacked movement behind the defense, we didn’t like the performance very much. Into the second half We started well, but then we conceded a goal. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves with such a team performance. Osky (Oscar) took it upon himself to score and equalize It was clear that we would have more than a quarter of an hour to score the second goal. Zafiris succeeded from behind the goal. We are happy for the match that we won developed unfavorably for us, they were able to turn it around. Some substitute players helped us.”

Zdenko Frťala (Teplice): “We wanted to make it as difficult as possible for Slavia. We told the players that it would be nice if we were the first team to score a goal against Slavia in the league season. We finally succeeded. In the first half, we were nervous, imprecise, the players had too much respect for the opponent, even so, we didn’t allow Slavia to create a scoring opportunity in the second half it poured in on us. Then I won’t comment on it at all. I’m sorry for the players that we won’t take at least one point for the amount of energy and effort they put into it.”
