Kimpembe was injured when he got fouled in injury time in Saturday’s home win against Stade Brest. Although the central defender, already booked, was extremely lucky not to be sent off the field for his angry tackle, he will still be out.

As PSG announced Tuesday, Kimpembe suffered a muscle injury to his thigh and will be out for around six weeks. This means that the Italian player will miss a large part of the Champions League group stage. His preparation for the World Cup in Qatar is also interrupted. Reigning champions France will play their first match against Australia on 22 November.

In addition to Kimpembe, PSG also misses goalkeeper Keylor Navas (back pain) and midfielder Renato Sanches (hamstring injury) in Wednesday’s Champions League match against Maccabi Haifa (21:00, LIVE! On kicker).
