The most awaited news in the fight against cyberbullying of children came from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Emilia Lazarova, announced that from September, under the National Program for Information and Communication Technologies, training for students and teachers to increase competences in cyber security and safe use of the Internet will begin.

The inclusion of cyber security classes in schools was made possible thanks to the results of the Cyber Defenders program developed by the Bulgarian Security Academy. “Standart” media has been a partner for years.

Thanks to leading Israeli expert Vladimir Bronfenbrenner, this program reduced the number of children harmed on the Internet by 51.9 percent in just two years.

At the national forum of Standard in February, Deputy Minister Lazarova promised that they would start training children and teachers against child cyberbullying.

She announced the news during yesterday’s “School in the Digital World” conference, organized by the capital’s “Alexander Stepanovich Popov” High Technology Professional High School.

Lazarova recalled that a working group was created in the ministry, the purpose of which is to define key priorities in the digitalization process in preschool and school education, formulating a vision for the related processes and results.

Video lessons, online laboratories and collaboration between students from different places around the world enrich the learning process and stimulate the active participation of young people in it,” said Emilia Lazarova.

“At the same time, digitization also brings some potential risks and threats, and so we need to teach students how to create, manage and protect their digital identities, how to respect and protect the digital identities of others, and how to behave ethically and responsibly online.” emphasized the Deputy Minister of Education and Science.
