After a power outage, they played half-time in Gyirmót in the twilight

Rookie Gyirmót played a 1-1 draw at home against MTK in Friday night’s first round of NB I football. The home team took the lead in the 27th minute, then one of the spotlights in the stadium went out, so they had to continue the match in the second half with limited visibility. MTK equalized with a nice raise in the 54th minute and was also at a human disadvantage due to Ferreira’s show in his hair, but the result did not change later, both teams scored 1 point in the opening round.

Surprisingly, Gyirmó was ahead of Vasas in NB II last season, so he reached the forefront again after four years, next to Debrecen, only for the second time in its history. The team of Aurél Cserői did not lose points in the last six matches and with several victories overtook the rival of Angyalföld, who collected the same number of points.

The odds for Friday night’s match were more likely to be MTK, which finished seventh in NB I last season, with a new coach, 36-year-old Giovanni Costantino, cutting him into the 2021/2022 season. The young Italian coach is well acquainted with Hungarian football, as he previously worked as an assistant to Marco Rossi.

Gyirmó started the clash better, in the 3rd minute after Palincsár’s mistake, Barnabás Varga fired a little hastily over 12 meters. In the 8th minute, HerKera threatened a free kick from MTK, but the Colombian footballer’s 30-meter shot rumbled over the bar. The ball was possessed more by the blue-shirt guests, but there was also danger in the rookie team’s counterattacks.

In the 26th minute, Gyirmó took the lead from a counterattack, with Ferreira’s own goal. Herjeczki unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors’ keeper did well to tip wide.

Gyirmó remained in full swing, and MTK was caught by the goal. A penalty 37 minutes into the game gave the home side a chance at adding to the score, but an overconfident Weir shot the ball wide trying to put it away in the top corner. Patrik Nagy’s shot went wide.

Varjú could have scored a goal from the 40th minute, but the defender of the Budapest team hit the ball badly in a great position. A minute later, there was even more room for equalization in front of MTK, but Palincsár’s clever twist clicked on the goal post.

The events spun up before the break, leaving a roaring ziccer on the other side as well, Wide could not hit the ball in front of him close up, which Mijatovic finally picked up.

In the extension, one of the reflectors caused a problem, its brightness decreased significantly, so the visibility conditions also became more limited on the track. The referee had no doubts and he gave a penalty in favor of Péter Zierkelbach. Finally, after more than 51 minutes of play, the teams playing in the twilight took a break.

It turned out that there were electricity problems in the whole part of the city, they tried to install the extinguished reflector with aggregators, moreover, the other luminaires did not give perfect brightness either. After some waiting, the lighting conditions still did not improve, but at the referee’s whistle, the second part of the game started.

So the teams continued in the twilight, it very much seemed that the match should be played even in such circumstances.

The rookie started the second half better, in the 52nd minute Medgyes aimed the short corner after a nice deed, but only hit the side net.

In the 54th minute, MTK equalized, Miovski raised to the net with a beautiful movement over Hársfalvi, who protruded from his sharp angle. The match was marked by a replay by a video referee, it seemed that during the action Dimitrov entered the ball by hand. However, the decision did not change, the goal was scored.

In the 66th minute, Mitrovic had to defend Herjeczki’s shot, and not long after Major’s shot, he didn’t care about Gyirmó in the result. There was an opportunity in front of MTK as well, in the 72nd minute Grozav tested Hársfalvi from 20 meters, then the Hungarian goalkeeper had to defend the attempt of Ramadani and Palincsár.

In the 80th minute, Gyirmó missed a huge situation, Medgyes could not take advantage of the fact that one of the defenders slipped, he hit the left goal post in ziccer.

In the 90th minute, with the help of the referee, the referee exhibited the self-goal Ferreira, for which he raised his foot thoroughly and kicked his opponent thoroughly.

MTK’s player, Nagy Zsombor, also had to be cared for, after an unfortunate collision, his scalp ruptured, so the match lasted much longer than the indicated 5-minute extension, which was further delayed than planned due to the power failure.

In the end, no more goals were scored in this unusual clash, both teams gained 1 point in the first round.
