A few years ago, AME boss Kollegah signed Bochum rapper Asche. The harmony between the two left fans with high expectations for Asche’s future at AME. After all, the two rappers would be a perfect match with their rap style, which is why fans saw Asche as a worthy successor who could follow in Kollegah’s footsteps.
But then, out of nowhere, the separation of Asche and Kollegah was announced. It was said in a published statement that in the future – to the regret of many fans – they wanted to go their separate ways in business. In an interview he explains, among other things, his reasons for the separation:
„Regardless of the fact that I’ve been a Universal Artist since 2020, it ended up being a decision I made for myself. Kolle was completely in agreement with that. (…) You can never break out of Kolle’s shadow when you’re standing next to him. (…)
I want to go into the open field alone. Without anyone showing me the way. Without anyone standing next to me. And no matter what comes, whatever happens, nobody else should be dragged into it. That’s my thing The best option for me in this case was: do your thing alone. Walk this path, this album, alone and see what happens. Take all the consequences, but also – if it works – your laurels.”
Many fans could understand Asche’s statements because someone like Kollegah casts a big shadow. But a short time later, rumors arose that he might want to join Bushido’s first-year-old camp. At the time, the Bochum resident was already in close contact with Bushido and his signing Jean.
The Berlin rapper Bushido later published a photo with Asche and announced for 2022 that they still had “a lot to do”. Asche then wrote “2022 brother” in the comments. Asche often had to hear later that this development was in contrast to the previous statements.
Message to Kollegah
But despite this development, there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood between Asche and Kollegah. Asche has now published a story post via Instagram in which he addresses Kollegah directly and thanks his former mentor.
