As the Freiburg fire brigade wrote in a statement, there had been an undesirable reaction as part of a chemical process. As a result, ten liters of hydrofluoric and nitric acid leaked out in the laboratory. A person therefore suffered chemical burns. The person was first aided by the emergency services and then taken to the hospital for observation.
A caller had reported the accident to the integrated control center in Freiburg/Breisgau Hochschwarzwald.
Since the extinguishing train had already moved out to a triggered fire alarm system,

Emergency services and the police alerted.
Firefighters remove the chemicals
After the rescue service had taken care of the injured person, the professional fire brigade sent a squad wearing chemical protection suits to the appropriate laboratory. This had absorbed the acids with the appropriate equipment and materials. Then the ABC train of the volunteer fire brigade decontaminated the squad.
The operation was over after almost two hours, the fire brigade said in its statement. The Freiburg fire department was involved with 10 vehicles and around 35 firefighters, the rescue service with three vehicles and five emergency services, and the police.
