After a 22-year hiatus, the ferry line between Greece and Cyprus is reopened

The Cypriot-flagged passenger ship Dalela arrived in the Cypriot port of Limassol last week from a shipyard in Greece. It can carry a total of 400 passengers and their vehicles.

On board, special attention is paid to people with disabilities, who will be provided with 24-hour service, but additional care will also be provided for pets.

The opening ceremony of the new line in Cyprus was attended by President Nick Anastasiadis, and the welcoming ceremony in the port of Piraeus is scheduled to take place after a 30-hour trip on Monday evening.

The Greek media also points out that ferries were disrupted due to the rapid development of air transport. Recently, however, there is a worldwide debate about replacing this environmentally unfriendly mode of transport, and one of the alternatives is ferry traffic.

Therefore, in 2020, support for the project was approved by the European Union. Officials said it was in the general economic interest of society.
