Before the actual wedding in 1989, Susan and Thomas Gehrig lost sight of their best man. The St. Gallen student couple gave them the signature and their passport number for the wedding on the Akuryri campground in Iceland. Then the St.Gallen couple traveled on and the four lost contact.
Now, after 30 years, the Gehrig have searched for the best witnesses on Facebook. The 61-year-old high school teacher Markus Zöllig has registered. “After the call, my wife sent me a text message and said that I was probably wanted,” he writes on SRF1’s Facebook. The Gehrig couple are delighted: “Now, of course, we are inviting the groomsmen over to us.”
