After 3 years, Morocco ends the state of “health emergency”

Morocco has “practically” suspended the state of health emergency, which was imposed in the country three years ago to address the Covid-19 epidemic, so that its last extension expires on Tuesday.

The Moroccan government has been announcing its extension at the end of every month since March 2020, and last time it was extended until the end of February without announcing any further renewal.

The spread of the epidemic has decreased in recent months in the Kingdom, reaching its lowest level since September, according to the Ministry of Health.

In a related context, the National Airports Office announced, on Monday night, exempting travelers arriving in the Kingdom from presenting the “health card”, which includes special information related to the epidemic.

The imposition of a state of health emergency allowed the authorities to take many exceptional measures to counter the spread of the epidemic, such as closing borders, quarantining or preventing gatherings.

And the local authorities recently relied on it to prevent protest marches against the high prices in several cities, at the invitation of the Confederation of Democratic Labor Union.

Since 2020, the COVID-@DIGITS epidemic has infected about 1,3 million Moroccans, according to official figures, while more than 23,4 million people have received the second dose of the vaccine, and about seven million the third dose.
