After 3 Months, the US Dollar is Back to Below IDR 15,000

The United States (US) dollar exchange rate against the rupiah finally returned to below IDR 15,000. Quoting data RTIMonday (16/1/2023) as of 11.00 WIB the US dollar exchange rate was observed to be at the level of IDR 14,997.

Until this afternoon, the US dollar touched its lowest level at IDR 14,978. With this decline, the US dollar exchange rate was observed to have weakened by 3.09% in the last three months. Meanwhile, if withdrawn since the beginning of this year, the US dollar was recorded to have weakened 3.64% against the rupiah.

The US dollar exchange rate has remained stable above Rp 15,000 in the last three months. The last time the US dollar was below IDR 15,000 was recorded in the last week of September 2022.

The US dollar itself was observed to weaken against the majority of other currencies. Uncle Sam’s currency was recorded as being the strongest under pressure from the rupiah, the Thai baht and the New Zealand dollar.

On the other hand, today’s rupiah is observed to be ‘muscled’. The majority of world currencies are under pressure in the rupiah quite deeply. The Taiwan dollar, US dollar and Hong Kong dollar were the three currencies that were most strongly pressured by the rupiah this afternoon.
