After 22 years finally a verdict: Jos Brech 12 years in jail for abuse and death of Nicky Verstappen

In the Netherlands, the court sentenced Jos Brech to 12 years and 6 months in prison for the rape of 11-year-old Nicky Verstappen. That he intentionally murdered the child has not been proven, according to the court. “But his death is the result of the abuse,” the court said. Nicky Verstappen was found dead in 1998 in Dutch Limburg. It wasn’t until 2018, twenty years after the murder, that a breakthrough came in the case. Jos Brech denies that he abused and killed the child and appeals.
