From its origins, the character of Cadabra in the line of Pokémon it has become a favorite of many. His appearances in the video game, anime and manga; in addition to its striking appearance and its background make it a Pokémon very charismatic.
However, since 2003, this Pokémon was removed from the line of letters from Pokémon and it was not until this year 2020 that it could be reintroduced again. Thus, a whole history of lawsuits, disputes and many years in the shadows are the events that haunt this mythical Pokémon. Let’s see what happened.
From battles with Pokémon to battles with lawyers
Do you recognize this man? Of course not, because it has nothing to do with the world of videogames; except for one thing. His name is Uri Geller and he’s the man behind a huge lawsuit against Game Freak by the Pokémon Kadabra card distribution.
The Lord Geller is a the mentalist who claims to have the particular ability to bend spoons with his mind; quality that he shares with him Pokemon Kadabra which was introduced on February 27, 1996 in the editions of Pokemon Red and blue.
The name of Cadabra, in its original japan version receives the name of Yungeller, name that is a direct reference to the aforementioned the mentalist. The Lord Geller claims that he was offended at having been depicted in this way in a videogame.
It is in this way that the lord Geller managed through lawsuits to make Game Freak and the letter distributor of Pokémon will stop producing letters from Pokemon Kadabra.
Not everything in 2020 is bad
However, in this year 2020 Mr. Uri Geller decided to withdraw the restriction claim against Game Freak. This because it is considered “irrelevant” today. In addition to this, I declare a public apology against the community to own Game Freak.
What’s your opinion about it? Do you agree with the argument of Uri Geller? We hope that this small but interesting news has been to your liking.
