Newspaper journalists has visited the embassy, which was emptied the day before the Taliban took power in Kabul on August 15.
At the embassy, Aftenposten journalists were shown around by the group, which itself claims to be 56 Taliban members who have moved in.
According to the newspaper, the people of the Taliban have collected garbage bags with things they consider scrap, such as a CD with Norwegian Christmas songs and a DVD with the film “Kurt becomes cruel”. Photos also show a team member testing a rowing machine and Taliban people holding wooden skis with Kandahar bindings.
– This area still belongs to their country. You’ll get it back. We just take care, says Amir Mohammed Mohammed, who is head of the group.
Today, the embassy staff work in Oslo. Trude Måseide, Head of Communications at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tells Aftenposten that for a long time before the evacuation, the employees unpacked and destroyed equipment and documents in accordance with instructions from the ministry. Official photos of King Harald were also taken back to Norway, while other effects with national weapons were tried to be destroyed.
