The accident took place between a tanker truck and a passenger car around 11:00 am. Several emergency services are on the scene of the accident.
Traffic from Amsterdam to Leeuwarden will be extensively diverted via the A8, A10, A1 and A6 (follow Amsterdam/Amersfoort/Almere/Emmeloord). Traffic towards Amsterdam follows the diversion route vice versa (follow Groningen/Emmeloord).

There is no longer any enclosed traffic. Traffic on and around the bridge has been diverted.
We expect the road to be opened around 3:00 PM.

The accident investigation is in full swing and will take at least another hour. After the investigation, the vehicles must be recovered and the ZOAB cleaner will get to work. The expected time when the road will be opened has been adjusted to 4:00 PM.

The recovery and cleaning work on the A7 has been completed. The Afsluitdijk has been reopened to traffic in both directions. It is therefore no longer necessary to follow the diversion route.
