Thousands of Senegalese opposition supporters gathered in Dakar on Tuesday, the first stage of a risky sequence with marches announced in the country on Wednesday and the trial scheduled for Thursday of one of its leaders, Ousmane Sonko. The legal cases opened against him and the mortgage they pose to his presidential candidacy are sources of tension, as is the doubt that President Macky Sall maintains about his intention to run for a third term or not.
