“We have to stop the wolf where it becomes a danger to our grazing animals and to the people in the country,” said Manuel Hagel of the “Schwäbische Zeitung” (Saturday). “The number and quality of wolf kills in Baden-Württemberg have increased significantly. We must not close our eyes to that.”
With a view to the Greens as government partners, Hagel said: “We’ve discussed enough now, now it’s a matter of drive.” As agreed in the coalition agreement, a wolf center must be set up as a contact point for farmers and tourism professionals, who would otherwise face existential problems problems. “Everything is taken care of there from a single source, from genetic detection to claims settlement – uncomplicated, competent and completely independent of which ministry in which political constellation is responsible for the wolf today and in the future.”
