Afpa agents in Valletta want to keep their restaurant … and let it be known

But a social movement has started, at the initiative of the CGT union, to protest against the privatization of “internal restaurants”.

“We refuse the outsourcing of meal services (breakfasts, lunches and dinners) to private actors in our Afpa as in 110 other centers in France, explains Sylvain Bego-Ghina, CGT regional delegate.

“These meals are made here for a cost of 5 euros, or the price of a sandwich. They are intended for trainees in retraining. Delegating this activity to a private company would undermine social prices and the quality of meals. Today ‘hui, we are therefore delaying the service to denounce this project! “

Up to 100 meals served daily

About twenty staff therefore gathered at the headquarters of Afpa Valletta and, on Tuesday, the kitchen staff did not provide daily service in protest.

In Valletta, between 60 and 100 meals per day are served on site to trainees.

“And if we accept that the preparation and taking of meals are done externally, what will it be next? Accommodation? This is the beginning of the loss of Afpa’s global offer, intended as an offer of training allowing everyone to find a new professional path “, adds the union.

The management, represented by Fabrice Marion, communications manager, specifies that “This outsourcing is only intended to expand the range of meals and services. In all cases, all staff are kept in the workforce.”

Each year, 15,000 people are trained thanks to Afpa in France with a success rate of 70% to 80% leading to long-term employment.
