Afihmad’s odds and ends for humanitarian actions in Madagascar

The Association for Humanitarian Financing in Madagascar (Afihmad) is organizing its next bric-a-brac sale on Sunday, November 17, at the Espalungue d’Arudy room. The public will find flea market and decorative objects, crockery, books and records (CDs and vinyls), bicycles, toys, clothes, household linen, small furniture, tools, craft supplies and much more. And all at low prices. Entrance is free and parking is very easy. The sale opens at 9 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m.

All proceeds are intended for humanitarian actions in Madagascar, with priority projects for 2025: the creation of a dispensary in the Majunga region; the addition of a medical intervention fund to the Ambanja maternity ward to help women pay their childbirth costs, especially in the event of complications; the repair of the water supply in a school near Tananarive; the end of the construction of a classroom in an orphanage in Tuléar.

30 active volunteers

Afihmad has 80 paying members, 200 supporters and 30 volunteers active in the field to collect donations and sort them, organize bric-a-brac sales and other operations.

The association’s financing is donations in cash or objects which are, after restoration, sold in the Ossau valley. To do this, it works in cooperation with the Community of Communes of the Ossau Valley (CCVO), the Rézo d’Arudy recycling plant and the Sictom d’Oloron. Drop-off points for in-kind donations exist in Arudy, Gan and Oloron.
