MADRID, 17 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Greek Government has warned of the possible arrival of Afghan refugees to European territory and has indicated that Greece does not want to become a gateway to the EU again, as happened in the migration crisis of 2015, for which it has advocated a response joint within the Twenty-seven.
The Minister of Immigration, Notis Mitarakis, has advocated in statements to the ERT chain for a united front within the EU, confident that the issue can be debated at the meeting of interior ministers that has been convened for this Wednesday.
“We do not want to relive what we lived in 2015,” said Mitarakis, who has defended a strict but fair immigration policy. In this sense, and although he has admitted his dismay at the tensions in Afghanistan after the Taliban advance, he has been against a possible massive arrival towards the EU.
