Afghan Women’s Robotics Team Welcomed to Mexico

Five members of the female robotics team Afghanistan arrived in Mexico on Tuesday night (24/8) after successfully fleeing his country after the Taliban occupied the presidential palace last week.

“We warmly welcome you to Mexico,” said Deputy Secretary for Multilateral and Human Rights, Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Martha Delgado. Reuters.

Mexico has promised to help Afghan women and girls.

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard admitted that he had started processing applications for Afghan refugees.

“(We are) processing the first refugee applications of Afghans, especially women and girls who have already requested it,” Ebrard said on his Twitter account last week.

The robotics team from Afghanistan, has won international awards for its robots.

They also made patented robotic inventions. The patents include a landmine detection robot and a low-cost ventilator made from auto parts.

The ventilators are useful for helping Covid-19 patients in the country, whose health system has been ravaged by decades of war.

Afghanistan is still in turmoil after the Taliban took control of Kabul and the presidential palace on August 15.

Many local residents who want to flee the country because they do not want to feel the Taliban government is considered to be authoritarian.

A number of countries are also trying to evacuate staff and citizens from Afghanistan, including the United States.

The United States is racing against time to complete all evacuations, including its military forces and Afghans, which will end on August 31 according to the initial agreement.
