Massoud is the son of the late Ahmad Shah Massoud, who fought against the Soviets and later the Taliban as leader of the Northern Alliance. Shortly after the Taliban conquered the Panjshir Valley on September 6, Massoud called for a national uprising against the Taliban.

No more support from US

Neither Massoud nor Saleh has been seen in public since the Taliban took Panjshir. Massoud is currently in a “safe house” in the Tajik capital Dushanbe, according to the news site. It is unclear where Saleh is staying.
