JawaPos.com – Samsung and Huawei are not just well-known names in the smart phone or smartphone market, but are also major players in the foldable cellphone segment. Both are the first companies to launch devices with flexible screens.
Because it has been present on the market for quite a long time and has been quite well received by the public, now, it seems that the company is planning to launch an affordable model early next year. This refers to a TrendForce report, this South and Chinese technology giant plans to reduce price barriers on its foldable cellphone offerings.
Reported via Gizmochina, this will make them more accessible to the public and expand their presence in the market. The report adds that Huawei and Samsung may be gearing up to launch foldable devices in 2024.
Additionally, Samsung Electronics is working on a new foldable handset that will target the mid-range segment. Unfortunately, further details such as price or specifications are still unclear. Since the term mid-range is used, this device is expected to cost less than IDR 8 million.

This price makes the phone more affordable and will hopefully help increase sales of the device and popularize foldable phones in general. Many consumers will be more likely to purchase such a device because foldable phones generally fall into the premium or ultra premium category.
Notably, this also lines up with one of our previous reports, which claimed that the company could launch a new foldable phone from its popular FE (Fan Edition) brand. Keep in mind that these are just unconfirmed reports, so take them with a grain of salt for now.
For folding smartphones themselves, currently Samsung still has the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 models on the market. These smartphones are getting better over time in terms of design, materials, durability and clear features.
Meanwhile Huawei still has the Mate X5 model. Huawei Mate X5 is the second foldable cellphone from Huawei to have a vertical hinge. The screen can be folded and extended with movements like opening and closing a book, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 from Samsung or the Oppo Find N2 which will be its competitor.
