Affordable AMD Ryzen 7000 Motherboards: BIOSTAR B650MT and B650MS2

Although the family of processors AMD Ryzen 7000 turned out to be very successful and offered a significant leap in performance, her debut is hardly successful. Both the CPU and the motherboards dedicated to them are much more expensive than Intel, and what’s more, the Reds still do not have processors below PLN 1,000.

These discs should cost less than PLN 600

Fortunately, there are so many motherboard manufacturers on the market that some of them are trying to offer cheaper platforms with a socket AMD AM5. Today we will focus on the new models in the company’s offer BIOSTAR.

BIOSTAR B650MT i B650MS2 are twin similar motherboards in format Micro ATX. We’re dealing with here 8-phase power section cooled by a small radiator and two banks for DDR5 RAM (up to 6000 MHz; 96 GB). Besides we are talking about one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 3.0 x1. For data carriers provided four SATA III ports and one M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 connector.

The I/O panel in both boards looks identical and is quite poor. We find there one HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.2, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 type A, two USB 2.0, RJ-45 connector and three audio ports.

So where are the differences? While both BIOSTAR B650MT and BIOSTAR B650MS2 use an old audio codec Realtek ALC897so the first motherboard only offers a gigabit network controller Realtek RTL8111H. The second one is equipped with a 2.5-gigabit system Realtek RTL8125BG. However, the choice is not easy, because the BIOSTAR B650MT has a USB type C connector for the housing.

These motherboards should go on sale in the coming weeks. The Taiwanese did not reveal the suggested prices, but they advertise these discs as “budget”. Must be assumed the range of PLN 499 – 549.
