“There are many questions, yes, because there are those who say the autopsy results can only be opened by order of the judge, in my opinion that is not true, the truth is that the autopsy results must be opened if requested by the judge, but if they are not requested, they are not forbidden to be opened,” said Mahfud after meeting with the Chairman of the LPSK at his office, Jalan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Friday (29/7/2022).
Mahfud emphasized that legally, the results of the autopsy could be opened and broadcast to the public. It aims to uncover the truth in this case.

“So, if in the law, there is a requirement, there is a permissibility, there is a prohibition, one, the results of this autopsy are opened if the court asks, it can be broadcast to the public especially if this is a public concern. First, it was doubted by the public and by the family,” said Mahfud.
The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) also assessed that the direction of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, was correct and would open the autopsy results to the public. Mahfud asked no party to distort the facts.
“Therefore, the Chief of Police is right, later if the judge asks for the results of the autopsy, the results of the autopsy will be submitted. But if you don’t ask, you can and the National Police Chief has announced that it will be opened, therefore don’t turn it around, then say it can’t be opened to the public. ,” he explained.
In addition to the legal reasons, Mahfud said that the publication of the autopsy results was also permitted in the Health Law. According to him, there is no rule that prohibits the publication of autopsy results.
“If the reason according to the health law is confidential, it’s not health, it’s an autopsy, court evidence, for example, if a person is contagious, don’t broadcast it, don’t broadcast this illness at the request of the person concerned. This isn’t a sick person. victim of a crime. So it may be opened to the public as a matter of opening this thing, this is a sickle, this is a bullet, this is the shirt, it’s the same, this is the result of the autopsy, there is no prohibition, the health law does not prohibit it, “he said.
Mahfud also suggested that all parties follow the direction of the National Police Chief. Mahfud also mentioned the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) so that the case was opened transparently.
