Novak Djokovic canceled his participation in the doubles competition at the Masters tournament in New York. The Serbian number one in the tennis world rankings withdrew on Sunday shortly before his opening match with his compatriot and Thiem individual opponent Filip Krajinovic.
Djokovic, who has not yet lost any of his 18 singles this year, is due to start on Monday against the Lithuanian qualifier Ricardas Berankis in the individual competition of the dress rehearsal for the US Open, which has been moved from Cincinnati to New York due to the corona crisis. His waiver of the double is considered a precaution. The US Open will begin at the same location on August 31st.
