AFF Cup: Thailand Seduced by Bonuses

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

To increase the spirit of competing in the final AFF Cup, Thailand has been lured by a barrage of bonuses, some of which they have already received.

Thailand successfully advanced to the final of the AFF Cup by beating Vietnam 2-0 on aggregate. This makes the Thai national team have been given a bonus of 10 million baht or Rp. 4.2 billion.

The bonus was given by the President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Somyot Poompunmuang.

The bonus splash can be even bigger if Thailand can win the AFF Cup. Thailand manager Nualphan Lamsam has promised to give 20 million baht or Rp 8.4 billion for the champion bonus.

To increase the excitement of competing, Nualphan Lamsam has even promised to provide an additional 6 million baht or IDR 2.5 billion.

Thailand is the country with the most collections of titles in the AFF Cup by winning five titles.

The last moment Thailand won the AFF Cup was in the 2016 edition. At that time Thailand beat Indonesia in the final.

In the first leg, the Indonesian national team defeated Thailand with a score of 2-1. But then Thailand bounced back and took the title with a 2-0 win in the second leg.

In this final, Thailand will face the Indonesian national team again.

The Indonesian national team itself has experienced the AFF Cup final five times before this edition. However, out of these five occasions, none of them ended up winning the title.

The Indonesian national team advanced to the final round after beating Singapore. Playing a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Indonesian national team won 4-2 through extra time in the second leg.
