Malaysian National Team managed to beat the Cambodian national team with a score of 3-1 in the match AFF Cup, Monday (6/12).
Malaysia dominated the game since the match started. Guilherme and his friends managed to suppress and damage the Cambodian defenses. However, the slick appearance of the Cambodian goalkeeper, Keo Soksela, made Malaysia fail to score in the first 20 minutes.
In the 21st minute, Malaysia got a penalty after Akhyar Rashid was fouled in the clear box. Safawi Rasid, who was the executor of the penalty, managed to carry out his duties well.
Although Malaysia pressed more, Cambodia had one chance to equalize through Sos Souhana. However, Souhana’s shot that took advantage of the chaos in the penalty box could be thwarted by Malaysia.
After winning 1-0 in the first half, Malaysia continued to try to put pressure on Cambodia in the second half. Cambodia also tried to reply to Malaysia’s attack to find an equalizer.
Malaysia’s efforts to double the advantage successfully materialized in the 61st minute. Starting from a counter-attack scheme, Syafiq Ahmad sent an accurate pass towards Akhyar Rashid.
Rashid ran into the penalty box. After making one trick, Rashid fired a hard right footed shot that Soksela couldn’t stop.
Malaysia then added their lead to 3-0 in the 79th minute through Kogi Raj. Kogi continued the mature cross bait fired by Luqman Hakim.
In the 89th minute, Cambodia was awarded a penalty after Malaysia goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi lifted his foot too high towards Sath Rosib. Sath Rosib became the executor of the penalty and successfully carried out his duties well.
The match ended with a score of 3-1 for Malaysia.
