PH:DR: Ms. Mame Diarra Ndiaye Sobel, Secretary General of the campaign “Stop the Bleding”,

The Secretary General of the African debt campaign entitled, “Stop the Bleding”, Mame Diarra Ndiaye Sobel returned to this campaign. At the end of the three days of work on the women’s approach to debt, she made appropriate recommendations for the next forum.

Maputo, Aline ASSANKPON

The campaign “Stop mixing”

The campaign “Stop mixing”, (Stop bleeding or hemorrhage) which is a loss of precious fluid blood. And we know that the Blood loss can lead to death. “Losing blood is always dangerous, it suffocates and causes death. And all the resources that the African continent is losing are killing the continent and taking away its subjects. Without the satisfaction of basic needs, dignity and social and economic independence, we cannot live easily.” explain Mame Diarra – I’m not afraid.

Naturally, the principle of the campaign “Stop the Bleding” is to take advantage of the transfer of resources at the continental level by trying to keep what we are losing: leaky pockets! These leakages are related to taxes, fees and capital. All those fees that institutions do not pay and those at the national level that are not well regulated, including illegal financial flows, etc. Debt servicing is the continent’s stumbling block. ” she noticed.

The campaign “Stop mixing” thus dealing with all these issues in a holistic and different way. In 2025, ten (10) years of this initiative will be celebrated. ”

The feminist approach to debt

Congratulations to the organizers of the fourth forum, Mame Diarra – I’m not afraid will address the topic of the feminist approach to debt: “Regarding the campaign on the female way, we have a mandate to raise information and build capacity, but also the mandate to advocate and influence. And not for anything that today, this conference is so important for the African continent and directed to a feminist approach”. But it is important that communities, African citizens and Governments find themselves in the concept of feminism and understand how this affects the daily lives of citizens and economies, when we refer to the economic power that comes from women which has access to the daily lives of citizens and economies. resources legally, she said.

Of course we have transition work to do. In Senegal, we have worked to ensure that women also benefit from extractive resources to strengthen their economic power. Through this system that helps women in economic power to escape a little from their situation of poverty and contributes to the education of girls.

Indeed, the feminist approach prepares institutions and stakeholders for the long-term participation of women. “When women are educated and trained, they can go far thanks to the emerging global financial architecture. The unifying potential of this conference which succeeded in bringing together large African groups, with pan-African values to work towards a common vision and harmony. That’s progress!”

However, the institutional impact of the “Stop the Bleding” campaign should not be overlooked. Its leaders, having participated in international negotiating bodies, were able to influence the mechanisms of the economic architecture related to debt, the transfer of resources and illegal financial flows.

Mame Diarra – I’m not afraid also welcomes this progress and suggests that deconstruction work needs to be done among women so that they educate girls in the same direction and boys in a context of equality so that men and women to have the same responsibilities at home and at a professional level.

Recommendations

After the analyzes carried out on the architecture of debt from a feminist perspective; structural policy exchanges, opportunities from a movement perspective, identification of current issues and challenges and action framework, Mame Diarra Ndiaye Sobel recommends accepting a a programmatic approach through three appropriate recommendations for concrete tasks.

The first, capitalization which involves the establishment of a working group to synthesize the forum’s conclusions, reinforced by existing research work so that there is data to inform pragmatic action plans proposal, which can be changed over time.

The second involves establishing a multi-actor dynamic at the national level, which actively involves Governments because we need to work with them and make them friends so that we can support them at the next World Conference for development funding that is being prepared. “And the African Group must be technologically strengthened, supported and mobilized around appropriate, harmonized and promising negotiation points.”

The third proposal includes – which is still in the reform of the global financial architecture – putting together a joint fast female request. “Women’s groups must be supported in formulating a request to be effectively integrated into the Agenda of the upcoming conference, but also national, regional institutions and international to be able to work with them and make our voices heard”.
