All Elite Wrestling Dynamite #89
Ort: Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, USA
First broadcast: June 18, 2021

Pre-Show:

It’s Friday Night, and you know what that means! After the fireworks show, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur greet us at Daily’s Place, where the ring has been converted into an octagon for the first match of the evening. Justin Roberts and Aubrey Edwards are also ready in the cage before the opponents celebrate their entry to the ring. Hager, Wardlow, MMA Rules, welcome to AEW Dynamite!

1. Match
MMA Rules Cage Fight
Jake Hager won against Wardlow via referee stoppage after Wardlow passed out in Hager’s guillotine choke in the second round after 4:13 minutes.
Match time: 09:13
– Since this was a fight according to “MMA rules”, the match was played in three rounds of five minutes each.

After the match, Shawn Spears and shortly afterwards MJF come to the ring and play against Hager and Chris Jericho. MJF takes the “Demo God” into an armbar and Jericho knocks off. Dean Malenko tries to intervene, but MJF dispatches them. The music of Sammy Guevara sounds and the heels take flight while the “Spanish God” takes care of his stablemates in the ring.

In the backstage Frankie Kazarian, Eddie Kingston and Penta El Zero Miedo hold a promo in the direction of their opponents Matt Jackson and “The Good Brothers” Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson. The commentators then go through the matchcard for the show before a commercial break follows.

Team Taz is also allowed to hold a backstage promo. Powerhouse Hobbs, points out that he has been let down by the others, which goes uncommented by the rest of the team. Instead, the head of the gang takes the floor himself. Taz sees Adam Page as the reason for the tension in his ranks and challenges the “Hangman” to a singles match against Powerhouse Hobbs.

2. Match
2-on-1 Handicap Match
Men Of The Year (Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page) won against Darby Allin via a pin after Ethan Page’s Ego’s Edge.
Match time: 12:00
– Darby Allin used a dispute between Scorpio Sky and the referee to tie Ethan Page’s legs with a cable tie, who was able to free himself a little later with the help of the contents of a tool box hidden under the ring.

3. Match
Singles Match
Orange Cassidy (w / Best Friends & Kris Statlander) won against Cezar Bononi (w / The Wingmen) via pin after the Orange Punch.
Match time: 04:07

Alex Marvez wants to interview Jungle Boy in the backstage area, but the two are interrupted by AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and manager Don Callis in an approaching golf cart. The two get out and Kenny challenges Jungle Boy to a street fight. After a little trash talk, Jungle Boy is attacked from behind by one of Omega’s lackeys and Omega then fights with Jungle Boy through the backstage area. When Jungle Boy gains the upper hand, Kenny escapes in the golf cart with Callis.

After another commercial break, Marvez is now with Matt Hardy and his “Family” and questions Hardy about his feud with Christian Cage. Hardy says Christian’s breach of contract will have consequences. Cage had been retired for seven years due to an injury and came back, but if he continues after Matt, he will…. before Hardy can speak, Cage interrupts him. The veteran rushes aggressively, but his attack goes nowhere because the Hardy Family Office locks him in an area behind a gate. Hardy offers Cage a way out: he should retire and hands him a check. If Christian continues after him, Matt will send him into retirement, Matt Hardy finally completes his sentence and leaves Christian to his fate.

4. Match
Tag Team Match
Cody Rhodes & Brock Anderson (w / Arn Anderson) won against The Factory (QT Marshall & Aaron Solow) via pin to Solow through Anderson after a Jackknife cover.
Match time: 10:07

A pre-recorded recording of Jake Roberts and Lance Archer is played. The two are in a shabby hall with a collapsed roof. While Roberts does the talking, Archer paces nervously up and down in the background. Roberts talks about the Forbidden Door, where all the prices can be found, and how he had to fight his way back into business. “The Murderhawk Monster” is out of patience, continues “The Snake” and Archer sets off with a roar: “I gotta go!

JR interviews Andrade El Idolo, whom he describes as a superstar and asks him about his motivation for choosing AEW. The former La Sombra gives a few reasons. Although there are many talents at EW, he is a superstar. When asked about the two AEW titles, Andrade says that he deserves a chance at the AEW World and TNT Championships. JR also asks El Idolo about his smart manager Vickie Guerrero. He was a third generation wrestler and he would get on very well with Vickie. At the end, Andrade announces that he and Guerrero have planned a surprise.

5. Match
Singles Match
Penelope Ford won against Julia Hart via submission in the Indian Deathlock.
Match time: 07:33

Immediately after the match, TNT Champion Miro comes out and asks Penelope where her husband Kip Sabian is. After Miro had informed the Varsity Blondes of the unfair conditions, he evened it out himself and dealt with Pillman and Hart.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone now has Dr. Britt Baker and Reba as guests. The interview is interrupted by Vickie Guerrero, who complains that Tony Khan owes her a favor. That’s why Baker and Reba will face Nyla Rose and Vickie Guerrero in a tag team match in two weeks!

In the June 30th edition of Dynamite, Miro will also risk his TNT Championship against Brian Pillman Jr. and MJF will face Sammy Guevara. At the Saturday edition on June 26th, Kenny Omega and Jungle Boy will meet in an AEW World Championship Match, as will “Hangman” Adam Page and Powerhouse Hobbs.

We get another single player. This time Proud and Powerful, Santana and Ortiz, as well as FTR, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood talk about their time in AEW and their rivalry.

Jade Cargill can now be seen backstage with Mark Sterling. Sterling says their plans to market Jade Cargill are going well, and the two proudly announce that they have partnered with a hotel. When he says they would work with any brand, Cargill vetoed, saying that only luxury brands are good enough.

6. Match
6 Man Tag Team Match
Matt Jackson & The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) (w / Don Callis & Brandon Cutler) won against Eddie Kingston, Penta El Zero Miedo & Frankie Kazarian via Pin to Penta El Zero Miedo by Karl Anderson after a supercutter.
Match time: 14:05
– Shortly before the finish, Nick Jackson, who sprinted through the audience, sprayed Penta El Zero Miedo in the face with the spray can, whereupon Anderson showed the supercutter.

The show comes to an end with the pictures of the Young Bucks, Brandon Cutler, Don Callis and the Good Brothers posing with spray bottles on the ramp.
