Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler tries to kick the habit of painkillers

Steven Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith, is not performing for the time being. He is admitted to rehab to get rid of his addiction to painkillers.

The other members of the band were so concerned about their frontman’s health that they took the initiative themselves, almost forcing him to seek help. Tyler, now 61, was admitted. For the second time already. In 2008 he already had to be taken care of after a foot operation.

The singer is addicted to painkillers. He says he uses those drugs because of “injuries that have arisen over the past ten years as a result of performances.”

Tyler is known for his “fierce” demeanor. Despite his not so young age, he still goes wild on stage.

“With the help of my family and team of professionals, I am taking responsibility for managing my pain,” Tyler said in a statement. “I’m eager to get back on stage and in the recording studio with my fellow band members.”

The rock veteran apologized to the other members of Aerosmith.

Last summer, an Aerosmith tour had to be canceled because Tyler fell off stage during a performance in South Dakota. He suffered a broken shoulder.
