MOSCOW – Russia ask Aeroflot, its commercial airline company, Aeroflot, to send all of its aircraft to Iran. One of his Airbus A330-300 went to Iran for repairs.
As reported by The Moscow Times , This is the first time that a plane from a Russian airline has sent its plane to Iran for repairs.
According to reports, the maintenance work to be carried out on Aeroflot’s A330-300 will be carried out by Iranian airline Mahan Air.
Aeroflot confirmed that it has sent one of its aircraft to Iran for maintenance, and stressing that while Mahan Air has the necessary equipment and facilities, certificates and extensive experience for the job, Aeroflot expects the maintenance to be carried out at a high level of quality.
After Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the European Union and the US imposed sanctions on Moscow’s aviation industry.
The sanctions include a ban on the use of Russian aircraft in western airspace, a ban on the sale of spare parts, insurance and maintenance services to airlines.
Several policies that were quite controversial were even implemented by Russia to solve this problem, one of which was using counterfeit spare parts.
Until July 2022, Russia and Iran signed an agreement to supply equipment and spare parts to support the Russian aviation industry even though both countries are under international sanctions.
The deal also includes provisions for the repair and maintenance of Russian aircraft. Although Iran may not have a firm footing in the aviation industry.
Meanwhile, Aeroflot acknowledged that Iran has the necessary equipment and facilities for the task of repairing the aircraft.
The Russian airline is even rumored to have been exploring the prospect of maintenance in Iran for several months.
