“Aerial and Artillery Bombardment Continues in Khartoum Despite Failed Ceasefire Agreement”

Al-Marsad Newspaper: Aerial and artillery bombardment continues in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, on Friday, after the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces failed to agree on a ceasefire despite their commitment to protecting civilians and allowing the passage of humanitarian aid.

A declaration of principles was signed in Jeddah last night, after nearly a week of talks between the two sides, but no statements have yet been issued by either party recognizing the agreement.

Since clashes suddenly erupted on April 15, neither side has been willing to make concessions to end the fighting that has killed hundreds and threatens to plunge Sudan into all-out civil war.
