Sadness in the AEK family as one of its most emblematic friends, Nikos Xirokostas, passed away, after the unequal battle he had been fighting for some time with the incurable disease and was finally defeated, making the fan movement poorer, plunging him into mourning world of the Union.
Xirokostas, despite the fact that he was in a wheelchair, was always by his favorite team. His life had changed in September 1995, when he was in Harilaou for AEK’s championship match against Aris. Thousands of “two-headed” fans, many outnumbered, crammed into the visitors’ stand until the railing gave way and fell on Xirokostas, severing his spine and leaving him crippled.
