PAE AEK owner Marios Iliopoulos had a meeting with EPO president Makis Gagatsi at the Federation’s offices. The visit of Iliopoulos concerns the refereeing of the match between the Union and Panaitolikos in Agrinio, as well as the commentary of the contested refereeing decisions by St. Lanois. AEK has complaints from the decisions of K. Poulikidis and from the “covering”, according to the factors of Dikefalos, offered to him by the French chief referee.
The EPO announced the following: “The meeting between Mr. Gagatsis and Mr. Iliopoulos scheduled for Sunday evening was recently completed, following a request from the owner of PAE AEK through its Vice President, Mr. Kosmas. In the meeting, issues of all substance were raised, while for arbitration issues, Mr. Gagatsis referred the owner of AEK to the KED, for which he emphasized that its independence and its selection process through UEFA is not in question.”
For his part, M. Iliopoulos stated after his meeting with Gagatsis: “We are looking for ‘fair competition’.” From the first moment I took charge of the team, I made it clear that we will not take hits below the waist.
AEK is the club with the greatest cultural and historical heritage. The profile of the team, as well as mine, do not allow us to tolerate such actions in the pursuit of the championship. We will protect our ideals with all our strength.
