Adyen and BMW Group expand their partnership from e-commerce to physical (point-of-sale) payments

Amsterdam, August 15, 2024 – Adyen, the financial technology platform for leading companies, and the BMW Group are expanding their partnership as a result of a successful e-commerce collaboration. Adyen offers tailor-made payment solutions to meet the BMW Group’s requirements for customer engagement and shopping experience. The integration of Adyen’s point-of-sale (POS) solutions into the BMW ecosystem now enables the BMW Group to offer customers a seamless and high-quality payment experience in physical locations, such as BMW Welt and the BMW Museum.

Adyen has been the BMW Group’s preferred payment partner for global e-commerce in 36 countries for many years. Adyen processes credit card payments for the ConnectedDrive Store in key markets such as Europe, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Japan and Brazil. Thanks to its global platform, Adyen can also cater specifically to the BMW Group’s local market requirements and offer local payment methods per country. For example, BMW customers can use iDeal in the Netherlands, TWINT in Switzerland, Swish in Sweden and many other local payment methods.

“We are very pleased that we can now take the next step together, after the successful collaboration of the past years in almost all markets where BMW is active,” says Alexa von Bismarck, President EMEA at Adyen. “We can now also offer a modern and smooth payment experience to customers at the BMW Museum and BMW Welt. With our platform, we bring all insights and data from the different channels together clearly in one system.”

The partnership with Adyen is a step towards a seamless and globally consistent premium payment experience for BMW customers. With the introduction of physical point-of-sale payments by Adyen at BMW Welt and the BMW Museum in Munich, Adyen is taking a major step forward. Connecting online and offline channels via Adyen’s platform offers several advantages, including uniform reporting capabilities for both channels. In addition, Adyen offers innovative features such as integrated analytics tools and real-time transaction overviews, giving the BMW Group insight into customers’ payment preferences and enabling them to make informed business decisions. Additional payment methods will be added soon, allowing customers to pay with Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Adyen has a long history of working with leading global brands and companies. The expansion of the partnership with BMW Group underscores the automotive industry’s confidence in Adyen’s ability to build customized payment solutions and deliver innovative technologies.
