Dr. Hossam Othman, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for the electronics industry, stressed that the mobile device is important from a technical point of view and in digital transformation and normal traditional use for all citizens, noting that Egypt has 70 million citizens who use the Internet through mobile phones.
Othman added, during an interview with the media, Qaswaa Al-Khalali, presenter of the “In the Evening with Qaswaa” program, on the CBC channel, that the Egyptian state imports from $ 1.5 billion to $ 2 billion, mobile phones per year, except for the last year due to currency conditions, to obtain 15 million. annual unit.
The advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for the electronics industry continued that it is natural for the state to have a strategy to pay attention to mobile manufacturing through several axes, such as the business environment, qualification and building human capabilities, while the third axis is stimulating innovation processes through research and development and so on.
He pointed out that Egypt has 4 factories, one in Assiut, the second in October, the third in Beni Suef, and the fourth in the tenth of Ramadan, and there is negotiation to build an additional factory in the tenth of Ramadan, and another factory in Beni Suef, to reduce imports and for the Egyptian state to have Export ability.
