Advisor to Prime Minister Johnson after accusations of racism and sexism

Andrew Sabisky, a controversial advisor to British Prime Minister Johnson, has resigned, Downing Street reports. He had only just arrived and is forced to resign after a storm of criticism for posts he posted on blogs and social media in the past.

Sabisky was appointed by Johnson’s chief adviser, Dominic Cummings. He had called “outsiders and madmen” to apply for jobs with the British government.

British media recently plunged into the past of 27-year-old Sabisky and told stories about it. Among other things, a tweet from 2019 was cited. In it, Sabisky wrote that women’s sport is more like the Paralympic Games than men’s sport.

Sabisky also suggested in 2014 in a reaction under a blog post that black Americans have a lower average IQ than white Americans. In a other reaction on another blog he wrote that same year that “there are excellent reasons to think that the radical differences in intelligence are mostly of genetic origin”.

Sabisky calls attention madness

Labor, the SNP and the Liberal Democrats thought the adviser should leave. Downing Street did not condemn the judgments. The black state secretary Kwasi Kwarteng did respond. He called Sabisky’s comments racist and totally unacceptable. “I think we should prevent racers coming in at Number 10 (Downing Street), or wherever he worked.”

In a tweet that has since been removed, Sabisky called the media attention for his statements “madness”. He says he has resigned not to distract the government any further. “I hope that Downing Street hires even more people with good geopolitical competences and that the media learn to stop selective quoting.”
