Why are the hurdles for owning a home so high?

We (married couple, 35 and 40 years old, two children) want to buy a home. In our opinion, we have a good family income of around 90,000 francs net. We are convinced that this would allow us to easily cope with the low mortgage rates. But time and again it is said that we did not meet the criteria of portability.

In the current low interest rate environment, mortgage costs seem cheap when compared to renting a home. However, this view does not go far enough. Because banks use a historical cut in interest rates when calculating mortgage costs – also known as affordability.
