Advice for Men at High Risk of Heart Disease, Given by a Doctor

Russian men are nine times more likely to die of myocardial infarction than women.

Risks are rising

It is no secret that the mortality due to cardiovascular pathologies is very high all over the world. This is the number one reason for early death.

As the cardiologist said Natalia Peresypko, most often due to complications, heart attacks and strokes, men die. moreover, if we talk about our compatriots, then among them the mortality rate is 9 times higher compared to the same indicator, but among women.

– As a rule, men die from myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, strokes and diseases of the circulatory system. The worst thing is that heart attacks, strokes and other pathologies are rapidly “getting younger”: if earlier they were detected in men over 55 years old, today cardiology departments also accept younger patients – from 27 years old, – says the physician.

How to avoid stroke and other heart diseases?

The cardiologist notes that, as a rule, cardiovascular mortality in men in 60 cases is due to the following risk factors: arterial hypertension, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism disorders, obesity, lack of physical activity, kidney disease, smoking and alcohol abuse. Moreover, half of the representatives of the stronger sex aged 25–65 years have regularly increased blood pressure and every third is diagnosed with angina pectoris.

Of course, with such a history it is difficult to achieve high-quality prevention. But still possible.

– To minimize the risks of developing a stroke, heart attack and other heart diseases, you must be attentive to your own health. At least once a year, you need to be examined by a therapist, take tests and do ultrasound diagnostics of the main human organ, says cardiologist Peresypko.

In addition, in medical laboratories, you can pass a genetic analysis for a predisposition to the development of cardiovascular diseases. Such a study is performed at any age and only once – the genetic profile of a person does not change throughout life, so the information obtained does not become outdated.
