Advice: continue to compensate parents who do not receive childcare

Just like during the previous lockdown, the sector organizations are urgently calling on childcare to reimburse parents who cannot use the childcare for the part above the childcare allowance (KOT).

This became apparent during a recent online member session of the BMK. The advice also applies to childminder agencies.

The starting point is that parents who cannot make use of the childcare will be compensated by the childcare for the upper KOT part.

Do you have childcare?

If parents do make use of the childcare as part of emergency care, the organization can choose to only pay out the above-KOT compensation for the days when the childcare is not used. In other words: the above-KOT compensation is only paid for the contract hours that the parent has not used.

A small proportion of the parents make more use of the emergency shelter than the hours for which they have a contract. The BMK’s advice is to provide this childcare ‘for no consideration’ if this can be resolved within the existing staffing or available hours of childminder childcare.

Vaccination

Another theme that came up during the member session was the vaccination against corona. An employer cannot oblige an employee to be vaccinated, according to the BMK. This person can decide for himself what happens to his or her body. The BMK is currently investigating legal employer issues surrounding this issue.

If the infectivity of the British (or another) variant of the virus turns out to be higher for children, the BMK will argue for priority on testing and priority on vaccination.

Just like during the first lockdown, all parents who normally use childcare and who continue to pay their bill in full will receive a contribution of their own contribution. How does that work? Read the full story here. —
