The successor to the Bunker in Osdorp, if it is up to an advisory report, will not be in Amsterdam but in Lelystad. A final decision on the new location of the ‘High Security Seating Location’ will follow after the summer.

The Amsterdam triangle (municipality, police and justice) and the court would like the Bunker to remain in the city, but according to the advisory report According to the Brouwer committee, Lelystad is the most suitable location. The main reason that the committee considers Lelystad the best option is that the possibilities for making the safety risks manageable are greatest there, partly because the location is located outside an urban area. According to the committee, it is also easier to create cells for the overnight stay of detainees from the EBI or with a high flight risk.
Wish
According to Minister Dekker, the current Bunker in Osdorp is “insufficiently suitable in terms of location and for the reception of, for example, victims and journalists”. The complex must therefore be relocated. Amsterdam hoped to keep the Bunker, but in a new location. The Lutkemeerpolder was considered a suitable location. That wish does not seem to come true.
The book is not yet completely closed for Amsterdam and the other candidate Zwolle: the final decision for the new location of the complex will follow after the summer, according to Dekker.
