According to a press release from the Freiburg regional council, the new adventure calendar for the Black Forest biosphere reserve offers 170 dates this year. These range from guided ranger and themed hikes to exhibitions, markets and festivals to workshops and seminars. “From the llama tour on the Schauinsland to the Holzschnefler days in Bernau to working on a landscape conservation day: the new adventure calendar reflects the colorful variety of activities in the biosphere reserve and invites you to get to know the unique natural and cultural landscape of the southern Black Forest,” said District President Bärbel Schäfer quoted in the notice. In particular, reference is made to the expanded range of 20 biosphere guides. Schäfer: “The guides are local experts who, for example, provide exciting background information about the biosphere reserve while trail running.”

According to the announcement, the biosphere reserve itself is represented in the calendar with various offers. These include the Biosphere Festival in Dachsberg (July 30th), the fourth Culinary Hinterwald Weeks (October 1st to 15th) and Landscape Conservation Days in Freiburg-Kappel (September 30th), Ibach (September 30th) and Oberried (September 7th). October). The eight themed trails funded by the biosphere reserve are presented in a short profile. The adventure calendar not only enables guests to have an unforgettable stay, but also provides locals with a change in their everyday lives.

The different facets of the natural landscape of the highest peaks in the biosphere reserve are shown on the ranger tours over Herzogenhorn, Belchen, Schauinsland and the Toten Mann. The tour along the wilderness path in the St. Wilhelm valley shows the habitat of the lynx, which is native to the Black Forest, and an impressive protected forest area. In addition, the 26 partner companies in the biosphere reserve have a wide range of events on offer. Visitors could discover the forest with alpacas or book a liqueur tasting. There are also numerous herb hikes and cultural insights.

The free 2023 adventure calendar is available in printed form at tourist information offices, municipalities and display points in the biosphere reserve.
