When Annemarie and Romana explore the area together, Bert seizes the opportunity to talk to his good friend Marjolein, who is visiting rainy France. There’s a reason he didn’t go out with the ladies. Marjolein has chosen Annemarie for him, but he doesn’t feel a connection with her at all and he has been struggling with that for days. Bert therefore wants to know what his friends saw in her, since they have chosen her.
“I just don’t feel a match and then I just shut down and I can’t really do much fun (…) I just have to be able to be myself and feel, and then I can open up. I can’t do that now,” he says. to her. Bert lacks a certain ‘wow effect’ and Marjolein also sees that the B&B owner is not himself: “You have built a whole wall around you.”

It’s not easy for Annemarie either. “I don’t really feel at home,” she tells the camera. “I just don’t feel comfortable here (…) Normally I make it comfortable, but somehow I can’t.”
Because Bert wishes Annemarie all the happiness in the world, and knows that he cannot give it to her, he decides to let her go and send her home. “I just notice that Annemarie is not the type of woman that suits me and I just have to say clearly: this isn’t it… I just have to be clear to protect myself”, says Bert.

Although Annemarie already sensed it somewhere, it still hits hard. “It’s never nice to hear that you’re not nice. That’s how it comes across,” she says in tears. “I don’t want to cry at all… But then I think: why now, does that say this morning? Then you can carry on… I don’t feel like sitting at the table tonight anymore.”
