Veronika and Jürgen Schwarz want their fellow citizens to sweeten their everyday lives. That’s why the two shawm musicians pick up their instruments from time to time.

On the first of Advent, festive music could be heard from afar from the balcony of a new apartment in Prenzlau. The Schwarz couple come up with musical surprises several times a year on Scharrnstrasse. It began in the Corona period to sweeten people’s everyday lives a little. To get in the mood for Christmas, the two now came up with something special. Last Sunday they took up positions with their instruments and played.
Small compensation
They were sure to receive applause from passers-by. “It’s a shame that there is no Christmas market this year”, was heard from many listeners: “But this makes up for it a bit.”

The containment measures did not leave the chapel unscathed this year either. The ensemble from Mühlhof made a respectable 52 appearances. The last time the shawm musicians played for the Rathaussturm on November 13th. “Unfortunately, all appointments after that had to be canceled,” regret the couple. They are happy that the band has honored their commitment with two certificates. These confirm to the people of Prenzlau that they were involved in 50 of 52 appearances. They took 2nd place together.
