Advantages of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: Folding Design, Compact Body, Qualified Chipset, Productivity Features, Slimmer S Pen

KOMPAS.com – Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 officially launched globally last July 26. This folding cellphone successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 can be ordered in Indonesia starting at Rp. 25 million (12/256 GB) to the most expensive Rp. 30 million (RAM 12 GB/1 TB).

At this price, the Galaxy Z Fold brings a number of advantages. The following KompasTekno summarizes the five advantages of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.

1. Folds tighter

The first advantage that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 brings is a new hinge scheme called “Flex Hinge”.

Thanks to the Flex Hinge, the main screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 can now close perfectly when folded. That way there are no more gaps between the two sides of the main screen when it is folded.

This is different from the old hinge design on the Samsung Z Fold 4 (2022). When folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is not tight and still has a cavity between the two sides of the main screen.

This tighter folding design also minimizes dust or dirt getting in between the main screen when it is folded.

2. The body is more compact

The loss of the folding gap thanks to the Flex Hinge also makes the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 slimmer and lighter.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 now has a thickness of 13.4mm, thinner than the Samsung Z Fold 4 with a thickness of 15.8mm. The weight of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is now 253 grams, lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (263 grams).

Apart from making it more concise, the new Flex Hinge also plays a role in the durability aspect of the Samsung Z Fold 5.

Samsung revealed that the Flex Hinge is an integrated hinge module that has a dual rail structure. With this design, external pressure on the hinge is expected to be damped and dispersed, not just focused on one hinge rail.

3. Qualified chipset

Samsung has also improved the performance of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This folding cellphone is now driven by the most capable chipset from Qualcomm, namely Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. This particular chipset is also embedded in the Galaxy S23 series.

Compared to its predecessor, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy is claimed to have an 18 percent increase in processor (CPU) performance, 32 percent graphics processor (GPU), and up to 25 percent artificial intelligence processor (NPU). .

Samsung claims that the presence of this new chipset will also boost the performance of the camera and battery that equips the Galaxy Z Fold 5, even though the camera and battery capabilities of this cellphone, on paper, are the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Still a matter of hardware, improvements also come from the cooling system of the Vapor Chamber device which is now claimed to be 38 percent from the previous generation. Because it is bigger, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 cooling system is claimed to be able to handle heat better than the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

4. New productivity features

Samsung also presents an update on the software side of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This update aims to make it easier for users to open many applications or do something (multitasking) from this folding cellphone.

Some of the updates presented by Samsung include the Multi-Window feature which can open many at once with a new mechanism, as well as the Drag-and-Drop feature which can now be done with two hands.

Then, the Taskbar feature which stores a row of icons at the bottom of the screen display will also now accommodate the four applications that the user accessed last time. That way, they can open these applications again without having to bother looking for them.

5. The S Pen’s stylus is slimmer

To increase user productivity, Samsung has also made the S Pen’s digital pen (stylus) design slimmer. Now, the S Pen on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is said to be 40 percent slimmer than the previous generation S Pen on the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Because it is slimmer, Samsung also presents a special new S Pen mobile phone case called Slim S Pen Case.

The protrusion of the S Pen compartment in this case is not as big as the S Pen case in the Galaxy Z Fold 4. This is because the S Pen is now made slimmer in the Galaxy Z Fold 5. With this case, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will certainly fit more easily in a pocket.
