The Apple iPhone 14 Pro is considered one of the phones that have OLED screens with high brightness, and this exceeds the screens used by other smartphone manufacturers.
According to recent reports, the iPhone manufacturer may plan to launch the iPhone 16 next year with a brighter screen by applying MLA technology, or microscopic lens group.
Advantages of screens with a micro lens
MLA, or Micro Lens Array, is a type of display technology that inserts microscopic lenses between glass and OLED panels.
Among its benefits is a noticeably brighter screen output as it reduces the luminance trapped between the glass and the panel, providing a more effective display. At the same time, this also helps reduce power consumption and thus extend battery life on the devices it is installed on.
And unlike TVs and monitors that are just beginning to feature MLA-equipped display panels, this technology is rarely seen in mobile devices, and in Apple’s case, it is said to be considering adopting the micro lens array in its future iPhone line, according to South Korean publication The Elec.
However, the decision could still depend on the target manufacturing efficiency of the new component, however, if OLED technology is achieved, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will likely be the first to benefit from this.
In addition to the brighter displays, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to arrive with a slightly larger display area.
According to some reports, the smaller iPhone 16 Pro may have a 6.3-inch screen, while the larger and more premium model features a 6.9-inch screen, and despite the change, Apple may keep the dimensions of the two iPhones.
